Jeff has an RV with a lot of issues that he knows about and failed to say anything until those things went wrong on our trip. We had a very difficult weekend for which he said he felt very sorry during our trip. We got back, went over the RV return, signed off on what was owed on both sides, and walked away. Two days later, Jeff makes absurd claims against me, no explanation, which Outdoorsy simply pays him out on without consulting me or asking me my side. Outdoorsy thus far has refused any review of the situation; apparently their policy is, if your RV owner wants to withhold any part of your security deposit for any reason, they will not review that, they will simply let them do it and make you go to arbitration. Here is what happened with Jeff:When I picked up the RV we went through it. When we got to the back Jeff told me we didn't need to go upstairs, and cautioned me that nobody should go upstairs. I agreed, and we didn't, and we didn't during our trip.Jeff did a full tour of the RV, told me there were no issues and he had never had problems with it before. That position changed rapidly. The brakes stopped working properly on the highway, and the brake light went on. When I first called Jeff this had "never happened before;" an hour in and he revealed that this actually "happens" and I just need to "wait" until they cool down. So with 3 kids - the youngest is 5 - and my sister heading out on a road trip, we sat on the side of the road for 3 hours and "waited."While at the gas station, the step to get in would not retract. At first he said this had never happened before; when I returned the RV he told me that it had happened on his last rental. He then "authorized" me in writing to drive with it like that. I had 3 different people at the gas station literally shocked, telling me that this would be hugely dangerous not just to me but to other people on the road. By pure luck we found a mechanic from another town, waited an hour for him to come to us, he tried to figure something out but ultimately he detached the step. We paid the mechanic $60.Jeff spent a good ten minutes explaining the generator to me, since we were going to a festival where it was hot. He neglected to say that I had to be well over a 1/4 tank of gas for it to work. We got to the festival at 9p - a 3.5 hour drive was a 7 hour drive, had 1/4 tank but thought nothing of it since we had to get in and get the kids to bed. The next morning, no generator. Jeff acknowledged his error in not telling us about the 1/4 tank. Our intention was to stay until Monday, but after two days in the heat we packed up and came home early on Sunday.Jeff knew all this and at one point said he would even reimburse us for the entire trip. When we got back, we went through ALL THESE THINGS - the expenses and hassle from my side, the extra miles and the 1/4 tank less gas on his side. We agreed, IN WRITING, that we would call this a wash and walk away. We added a handwritten mention to the SIGNED CONTRACT - Outdoorsy's contract in fact, designed and given to him by the company, for us to go through the RV upon return to sign off on it. Attached is a photo of that signature page; Jeff has the original but no doubt has not produced it to Outdoorsy nor have they apparently even asked him for it.We shake hands and I drive away.Jeff comes back to you after I leave and claims I damaged the RV. and where is that? On the roof that he refused to allow me access to, and told me not to let anyone else access during the trip. Good one.Jeff and I had most of our text exchanges through your system so you have a full record of it all.Jeff soured me and my family on RV rentals for a while to come. At least, I would be very careful renting from this person.
