Rules and policies
Driving with an RV requires slower speeds, wider turns, and increased following distances to manage trailer sway and longer braking times. Essential rules include ensuring all passengers are buckled, securing all interior/exterior items,
Do check your hitch: Ensure the hitch, ball, safety chains, and breakaway switch are properly secured and tested.
Do maintain a safe following distance: Add extra space between you and the car in front to allow for increased braking distance.
Do brake gradually: Avoid slamming on the brakes, which can cause jackknifing.
Do use turn signals early: Give other drivers plenty of notice for lane changes or turns.
Do watch your trailer sway: If it starts, gradually slow down and do not attempt to steer out of it.
Do plan your route: Check for low bridges, weight restrictions, and high-wind warnings.
Do check tires: Inspect tire pressure and condition on both the tow vehicle and trailer.
Don'ts of Trailing an RV
Don't ignore weight limits: Never exceed your tow vehicle’s towing capacity or the RV’s Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR).
Don't stay in high gear: Avoid using overdrive; use lower gears for better control, especially on hills.
Don't allow passengers to ride in the trailer: It is dangerous and illegal in most states.
Don't rely on standard mirrors: Use towing mirrors to eliminate blind spots.
Don't pack heavy high up: Keep heavy items low to maintain a low center of gravity.
Don't turn too tightly: Swing wider on turns to avoid curbing the trailer.
Don't drive when sleepy: Follow the 3/3/3 rule (max 300 miles or 5-6 hours/day) to stay fresh, suggests Camp Little Arrow and Harvest Hosts.
Important Safety Reminders
Lights: Verify that all brake lights, turn signals, and marker lights are functioning before every trip.
Open Container Laws: While some states allow passengers to ride in motorized RVs, open container laws regarding alcohol still apply in the passenger area, explains RVshare.

I love the feeling of waking up to a leftover fire and going to sleep with a sturdy fire! Not being on an agenda is awesome and so is glamping! Nothing like eating fresh eggs, bacon, and enjoying a fresh hot coffee....all surrounded by the woods. Discovering state parks is one of my fave things to do. I wish I could use my RV all of the time but she’s too pretty to be laying around doing nothing. Thought I would share her :)
