"James" is our Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van. He's great for family road trips when staying at an Airbnb, hotel, or visiting friends. This is NOT an RV, but a great way to take a trip when you have 6-12 people that want to ride together. This is a 12-passenger van. Driver/front passenger plus bench seating for 10 more people (3/3/4 benches). All seats have a shoulder belt, a headrest, and a pretty large space for storage underneath the seats (like an airplane carry-on suitcase). Plus a very large luggage area behind the back seats for about 20 suitcases or bags.
What's includedFeatures crosswind assist that's great on windy days, blind spot assist, backup camera, turn signal mirrors, heated seats, heated windshield, powerful AC (unit on the roof) and heater for the entire vehicle, large cargo area in the back and under bench seats for storage, driver comfort seat, cruise control, electric sliding step, and more. The Sprinter requires diesel fuel. RecommendationsThis is a 12-passenger Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van that's excellent when traveling with 6-12 people that want to ride together. Take a trip with another family or carpool to a soccer tournament, but just don't take James off-roading or to festivals. He doesn't like the extra wear and tear from rough roads or large groups of people. Tent camping is a great option too!Other things to noteThis is not an RV with beds. Sure you could sleep on the bench seats but that would be really uncomfortable, so that's not really an option. Pack a tent instead! No smoking, no pets. And no festivals or tailgating. On the flip side, this keeps our van in better shape for the people who do use it. The driver(s) must be 25 or older. We’re looking for responsible people who will take care of our family van :)And let me mention it again, our van uses diesel fuel so no gasoline!

Frequently asked questions

Q.

What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?

A.

Pickups are normally between 3-7 PM, but if you need the van sooner that might be an option. Returning the van is usually between 10-11 AM, but again we're happy to consider other times based on the rental schedule.

Q.

Why is there a mileage fee after the initial miles included?

A.

Running any type of vehicle (van, RV, car) is expensive to service, maintain, and replace. Mercedes is especially proud of their Sprinter Vans! Oil changes, new tires, brakes/brake pads, filters, alignments, windshield wipers, and replacement costs all add up pretty quickly. MB Sprinters are great vehicles, but expensive to maintain and service. :/ We try to charge just enough to cover all these expenses.

Q.

How much storage is there?

A.

There's a lot of storage space. We travel with 10 people and lots of luggage. The cargo area (behind the last row of seats) is about 70" wide, 64" tall, and 20-24" deep. With the shelf across the back, it holds about 20 suitcases. Plus there's additional room under the bench seats. There are 9 areas that are about 15" wide, 11" tall, and 20" long providing extra space for backpacks and travel bags.

My wife and I have a large family and enjoy traveling. When we're not using our family van for trips, we want others to have a chance to use it. Renting passenger vans from rental companies is incredibly expensive so Outdoorsy is a great alternative. <return> We're also the executive producers of Gutted, a 5-episode RV renovation competition filmed last year in CO. Three teams compete to renovate a van, RV, and school bus in 5 days—best renovation wins. At the same time, it’s a festival where people can camp, attend workshops, meet creators or just hang out! Here's a link to the Gutted Season 1 trailer. Come join the fun this year at Camp Branch, just North of KC on Smithville Lake from Oct 4-9, 2022. Learn more at
