"Moana" the Luxury Camper Van on Kauai (1999)

16 ft. long

Moana is our latest acquisition and by far our most luxurious. A 1999 T5 Eurovan was the last imported model from Germany. Introduced in 1993, the VW Eurovan Camper replaced the lower powered rear-engine, rear-drive Vanagon with a new body style, and a 109HP, 2.5-liter 5-cylinder front engine front wheel drive model. There are two models of EuroVan. The Full Camper with 12gallon fresh water, sink, and two burner propane stove. Cabinets for pot and pans, dishes, sheets and blankets as well as two deep cycle batteries to keep the fridge cold. The Weekender model has a small fridge and a bed. Your adventure on Kauai will be more comfortable in a Full Camper. All three of our vans are Full Campers. A fuel-injected V-6, Anti-lock brakes, and nimble steering make driving fun and care-free. With built-in blinds, an Alpine stereo and a real closet, you'll feel right at home. In continuing to upgrade Sarah, we chose superior outside camp chairs, upgraded linens, and towels as well a huge awning to make indoor/outdoor living clean and dry.
There Is no smoking allowed. The van's interior and exterior need to be returned clean and full of Premium gas.

RecommendationsYou should have your 1st-night location nailed down before you arrive. Some of our favorite campsites start with Lydgate Park. There is a lot of wave action here but that adds to the energy.` You can walk 3 miles in one direction on pristine sand and barley see a sole.
Located on the North shore, is Anini Beach Park. A very far out reef makes the water calm and waveless almost all the time. Good shell collecting, snorkeling, and kiteboarding. There are two state campgrounds that are open.  One is Kokie which is up in the cold Waimea canyon area you can get your permit online. Another is a hike in only wilderness Park in Haena and the third is Polihale State Park. We don't allow the vans to go there the roads are too treacherous. There are two private campgrounds, one called Kumu which is on the east side of the island on the beach it can be reserved online then there's the YMCA campground on the North shore that has to be reserved in person. The county campgrounds, there are seven of which three are closed. Permits are sold at the county building and in small towns around the island. Personally I would go for Lydgate campground which is near the town of Kapaa or the Kumu privately owned campground in Anahola. If your plane is arriving here by 2 p.m. you will have time after the Camper orientation to go buy a permit.
Camping Locations On Kauai (www dot Kauai "dot" gov/ Camping)No off-road driving is allowed at any time, no exceptions. The vehicle will be FULL OF GAS when you arrive and you will need to fill it up upon DROP OFF. it. $10/gallon under full.
Other things to noteWe are located 10 miles from the Lihue Airport the easiest for you is to catch a UBER ride to 650 Aleka Loop in Kapaa. The cost is normally $16 when you arrived we will be waiting to give you a full tour of your camping and it's operation. Drop off after 11 pm and before 6 am will cost an additional $50 dollars, We will go over how everything works in the van and take a detailed inventory and pictures of the vehicle and then you are free to roam the island.- Only 4 occupants accepted.
-POLIHHALE campground farthest West road, cannot be accessed by our van due to the poor road condition. GPS tells the tail. $300 fee if traveled to POLIHALE
Cell phone service is available Island wide and laundry services in every town. Our 100 w solar panel will give you the power to surf on your laptop and charge phones as well as keep the fridge cold and give you good interior light at night. Please refrain from taking your van off-road. Even 3" of sand can quickly result in being high-centered and no tires will be gripping. This is a heavy Van. Don't get into situations that require fast acceleration. Visibility backing up is limited, use a spotter to guide you.., Of course, to roof climbing and just treat the van as if it was yours. Our vans are not allowed at Polihale state park, or any other unimproved or dirt roads including Maha'ulepu beach (also known as Gillins beach or Kawailoa bay) and the road past Camp Sloggette (Road to camp slogette is allowed). Vans shall not be used to carry passengers or property for hire. Vans shall not be used to push, propel, or tow any trailer or object. Vans shall not be used in any illegal manner. Van shall not be operated by anyone other than designated in the rental agreement. Nothing is allowed on top of or connected to the van other then whats provided by and used in the manner intended. Camping permits are the responsibility of the renter.
