Towing Speed Limit: To ensure safety and prevent trailer sway, you must never exceed 65 MPH while towing the trailer, regardless of the posted highway speed limit. Lower your speed significantly when driving on gravel, dirt roads, or during windy conditions. Approved Terrain • The Basecamp 20X is built for backcountry travel, and you are welcome to take it on paved highways, maintained gravel roads, and officially designated, graded US Forest Service (USFS) or BLM routes. • Strictly Prohibited Off-Roading: Under no circumstances is this trailer allowed on unmaintained trails, open off-road terrain, sand dunes, logging paths, or beaches. Rock crawling and creating new tracks are strictly forbidden. • Clearance & Obstacles: Do not attempt routes with large boulders, deep ruts, or sharp washouts that threaten the trailer's 12-inch ground clearance. • Exterior Protection: You must avoid tight, overgrown trails where low-hanging limbs or dense brush will scrape, scratch, or gouge the aluminum exterior shell panels. •Water Crossings: Driving through flowing creeks or rivers is strictly prohibited. Do not cross stagnant puddles or standing water deeper than the center of the wheel hubs. Renter Liability & Fees • Insurance Void: Unauthorized off-road travel immediately voids Outdoorsy insurance coverage, making the renter 100% liable for all recovery and repair costs. •Towing: Standard roadside assistance does not cover off-road extraction. Renters are responsible for all specialized overland towing and recovery fees. • Deep Cleaning: Bringing the trailer back with excessive exterior mud, caked undercarriage debris, or severe interior dust from extreme backcountry routes will incur a mandatory $250 deep-cleaning fee.
