There is many spots to check out around the Yukon for hiking, fishing, biking, canoeing etc. Other things to noteA discount of 10% will be applied for bookings 10 or more days long.
A discount of 15% will be applied for bookings 14 or more days long. There is limited cell service in the Yukon. Renters should look into bringing a GPS communication device (InReach, Spot, Zoleo, etc) to communicate with loved ones or with us if there is any questions about the van while travelling. The outdoorsy insurance does not apply to the Yukon so we require renters provide proof of insurance for the rental of the van. We have had renters from across Canada and the US who have been able to find insurance for the rental of a campervan. If you need any help with this step feel free to reach out and we can give you some options and insurance providers that other renters have used. The van is 2wd with some great tires so it is ok to drive down rougher gravel roads to access campgrounds, but avoid doing any off-roading with this van. You can go down the Dempster to access the Tombstone park / Campground, but you cannot travel down the Dempster highway any further with this van.A detailed manual will be provided with instructions about the van and how to use the amenities it has.The van and jerry can will be given full of gas and is expected to be returned back the same. Please return it fairly tidy when you're trip is over for easy cleaning and for the next renter. No smoking and no pets. We will only rent to those over the age of 25. Travel is to be kept within the Yukon Territory.

5since all 3 of us were even older than 'ol Betsy' we kinda knew what we were getting and were more than happy going back to the 'analog' like days of driving and camping. (ie the steering wheel is just a steering wheel, no more and no less). Marissa and Mitch were always ready with answers and solutions-the essential (for us) rear mounted bike rack they added for example. Highly recommended if you re not in a hurry...and why would you want to be?

5Exactly as advertised! Ol’ Betsy was exactly as we expected. Yes, she’s *mature* but she’s also statuesque, comfortable and reliable - a vintage gem! My husband and I had an amazing week in her seeing so many places in Yukon. Betsy was equipped with the basics - there wasn’t anything we wished we had while staying in her. Marisa was very communicative and available for any questions before and during the rental period. She made sure we felt comfortable with the vehicle before we left and her user manual had everything we needed in it. We would highly recommend seeing Yukon in Ol’ Betsy. What an adventure!

5We rented the van in late May for 10 days. We had a fantastic time going all over Yukon with it: Allyn, Whitehorse, Dawson, Thombstone. Its old and not fast but it was still absolutely perfect. The van is more compact compared to those other RV so it was easy to park just anywhere to sleep for the night. There is everything you need in it: kitchen, bed, storage, water, etc. We liked it so much, it made us want to start shopping for one lol. The price is very good too: more expensive than renting a car, cheaper than renting a car + Airbnb.

5Could not have asked for a better home for our 8 days of adventuring in the beautiful Yukon! Ol' Betsy took us to places like Carcross Desert, Dawson City, Kluane National Park, and up and down the picturesque Dempster highway, adding extra aesthetics to the gorgeous fall foliage of Tombstone. Driving it was very comfortable, easy, and fun! Already missing our trip and our cozy nights in the van! P.S. The owners are super communicative, friendly, and very helpful in terms of questions and everything!

5Right from the time Betsy was booked till the last day of my trip, I felt the hosts (Marisa & Mitch) had my back. They provided all the information I needed about the campervan and ensured she was clean and well stocked. I always knew the hosts were only a phone call or text away…although I didn’t need to call as Betsy performed like a trooper. Marisa & Mitch were a pleasure to meet and I wouldn’t hesitate to book Betsy again!

5Marisa and Mitch were great hosts, super nice and very helpful. They even went out of their way to accommodate our dates, and always answered any questions or concerns quickly, even when they were off the grid on their own vacation. We really appreciate them making our trip possible and very memorable! Thank you for everything!

Frequently asked questions
Q.
Can the van be rented less day than the minimum 5 day rule?
A.
Unfortunately, no. There is typically a fair amount of prep work we do before and after each rental. We have determine the time put in on our end and overall cost for us to make it worth renting out needs to be at least 5 days.
Q.
How does insurance/ protection coverage work with the rental of our van?
A.
Outdoorsy does not provide insurance for rentals in the Yukon yet. Renters will need to provide and already have or obtain their own car insurance, in addition show proof their insurance will also cover the rental and/or use of other vehicles, which includes campervans. Add-on options for this sort of thing are possible, but needs to be discussed with your insurance provider or third-party.
Q.
Can the van be rented outside of the Yukon?
A.
No. The van is restricted to travel only within the Yukon Territory. Travel is to be kept on main highway roads with the exception of going on gravel roads to campgrounds and on the Dempster up to Tombstone look-out. It has limitations based on being 2WD.
Q.
What is the fuel mileage per 100 km?
A.
Ol' Betsy is a 1980 campervan with a 2-cylinder carbureted engine, and has an 83 L gas tank. You will typically get 20-25 L/ 100 km. The Yukon is limited for gas stations once you leave Whitehorse. We recommend filling up at every gas station you encounter outside of the main hub city if you plan to travel a far distance. You will be provided with a filled 25 L jerry can full for emergency use if need be. If the jerry can is used we require it to be filled back up upon return of our campervan.
